A wooden cottage in Poddąbie, 300 metres from the Baltic

Hide away by the sea

Among the pines, just 300 metres from the beach, stands a wooden cottage with a fireplace, a comfy sofa and a table where conversations tend to run long. In the morning you can reach the sea before the first sunbathers arrive, and in the evening come back with sand in your shoes and stay at dinner a little longer than you planned.

Some people come back every year

Hi, it's Dawid. Poddąbie has its regulars. Some people have been coming for years. They know the way to the beach and their favourite forest paths, and they know the best spot to sit and watch the sea. Many of our guests return every year, sometimes several times.

Dziupla stands among the pines, a few minutes from the beach. It's a wooden cottage with white boards on the ceiling, a brick fireplace and everything you need for a comfortable stay, whether you come for a few days or a whole month.

I like to think you really get to know Poddąbie on your second visit. When you no longer need to look for the way to the sea and can head straight for the places you ran out of time for last time.

Living room with fireplace

A turquoise sofa, a big table and a brick fireplace give the living room a character no hotel room could match. There's room for board games, shared dinners and reading late into the night, and when the weather keeps everyone indoors, nobody has to invent something to do.

Kitchen

A fully equipped kitchen and a big fridge mean you can shop for several days and cook at your own pace. Make breakfast for all six of you, fry fish for dinner or put on another coffee when the conversation at the table gets better than the trip you planned.

Bedrooms

Six people can sleep at Dziupla, so there's room for a family holiday, a trip with friends or a longer stay by the sea. After a day on the beach or the bike, a comfy bed quickly becomes the most important piece of furniture in the house.

Terraces

In summer the terraces become an extra room, with pines instead of walls. Have breakfast here, sit with a book or stay on after dinner when it turns pleasantly cool. There's also a garden and a bench you don't have to leave just because the coffee has run out.

Bathroom

After a swim in the Baltic, autumn rain or a bike ride, a hot shower is especially welcome. Towels and a washing machine are here, so there's no need to pack half your wardrobe for a few days away.

Poddąbie

Here the sea still has room to breathe

Poddąbie lies between Ustka and Rowy, among the forests and cliffs of Poland's central Baltic coast. A few streets, a small promenade, pines growing almost to the water's edge and a beach that stretches far out of sight. Even in summer you can find a quieter spot here by walking a little way from the main path to the beach.

It's worth visiting the sea more than once a day. In the morning it's often smooth and silver, in the afternoon it sparkles in the sun, and after a strong wind it leaves stones, shells and wave-worn wood on the sand. Every walk can feel different, even along the same path.

Beaches and cliffs

Beaches and cliffs

Wide sand, boulders scattered at the foot of the cliffs and forest that in places almost reaches the sea. You can walk along the shore for hours, watching the coast change. After a storm, keep your eyes on the ground, because the Baltic likes to leave interesting finds on the beach.

Forests

Forests

Tall pines, ferns, blueberries and a network of paths to the neighbouring villages. In summer the forest offers shade from the heat, in autumn it draws mushroom pickers, and in any season it's a good place for a walk or a bike ride.

The hidden bench

Somewhere under the trees there's a bench with a sea view, a little way from the busier paths. We won't give the exact location, because looking for it is a lovely excuse to explore the area. You may find a favourite spot of your own along the way.

Near Rowy the trails towards Słowiński National Park begin, through wetlands, forests and coastal landscapes. It's also worth planning a trip to Czołpino, where you can visit the lighthouse and see the wooded dunes.

When to come?

Every season has its fans here

Poddąbie changes its colours, scents and pace with the seasons. In spring it smells of damp earth, in summer of pine resin, in autumn of mushrooms, and in winter the sea can look nothing like it does on holiday postcards.

Spring

In spring the forest slowly turns green and there are still more birds than tourists on the paths. The sun starts to warm the terrace, you can walk the beach without crowds, and bike rides towards Rowy get pleasantly longer every week.

Summer

In summer the day divides easily between the beach, the terrace and trips around the area. Head to the water after breakfast, come back for lunch and see the sea again in the last light of the day. Seasonal cafés open in Poddąbie, and warm evenings invite you to sit outside.

Autumn

The sea gets rougher, mushrooms appear in the forest and the fireplace waits after a long walk. The days are shorter, but the evenings have time for books, conversation and another cup of tea.

Winter

In winter, especially after snow, the coastal forest and beach look completely different from summer. The sea turns steel grey, the paths are quiet, and after the frost it's lovely to warm up by the fire. Dziupla is insulated and ready for colder days too.

Guest reviews

There are places you come back to

“I come here for longer stays and it's the best time of my year. Beach in the morning, then the forest, a bike ride to Ustka, the fireplace in the evening. My head rests faster than I can unpack.”

Dogs welcome

Forest paths full of smells, sand to dig and a garden to rest in after a walk. Dogs are welcome at Dziupla, and their owners will appreciate the washing machine, especially when wet towels, leads and a dog who had to inspect every puddle come back from the beach.

Yes, dogs are welcome. There are plenty of forest walks nearby, and the cottage has a garden.

Isn't it too cold outside the season?

The cottage is insulated and has a fireplace and air conditioning, so it's comfortable beyond the warm months too. The cold after the season is often a myth, as the weather here can still be good. And if it does get chilly, evenings by the fire are even better.

Are there bikes and parking?

Yes, guests have three bikes and a parking space. Both are included in your stay.
